#773: “Killing Time with Pluto (guest stars: YOU GUYS!)”

*** Now talking in #suburbansenshi
Topic is -= Can IRC even HAVE a filler episode? =-

[12:16] * @S.X. Aino pops in
[12:16] <@S.X. Aino> Hi I'm the one member of Suburban Senshi you don't know, because I don't hang out in this channel. But with pop working on the world guide, I'm kinda in charge,
[12:17] <@S.X. Aino> Today, because all the others are STILL hanging out in a hotel somewhere, trying not to generate any canon events which would clog up the guide XD, I'm going to use a filler update from my hangout, the #suburbansenshi2 chatbox.
[12:18] <@S.X. Aino> Currently Denizens of the chatbox are engaged in a "war" against the [THE HAPPY PLACE] Forums, wherein they come up with wacky ways to link Sailor Pluto to anything. And I *do* mean anything.
[12:19] <@S.X. Aino> One of our best humourists in the box, Yaijinden, came up with some hilarious stuff which we can't use because he linked to his own questions, but I thought you'd find them humourous while you wait for Pop to finish the world Guide.
[12:20] <@S.X. Aino> OH! And speaking of which, the rough outline for the world guide is done, along with the cooly canonical suburban senshi timeline, and and article about starseeds!
[12:20] <@S.X. Aino> You can czech it all out here! --> https://suburbansenshi.kasterborus.net/daizenshuu/
[12:22] <@S.X. Aino> Pop is taking suggestions for any topics that might need coverage, and yes, there will be a contest as implied by the table of contents. The details will be that you can propose a subject for Pop to write a short fic on in the World Guide. (But that's for later, for now, you guys should be trying to finish up your episode 20 stuff). We will post all episode 20 submissions even if they are late, but only ones submitted on time will be eligible for consideration of being official canon.
[12:23] <@S.X. Aino> If you have suggestions for the world guide, leave comments in this thread, because it'll be here for a few days while the guide gets written XD
[12:23] <@S.X. Aino> And now for the fun!
[12:23] * @S.X. Aino changes topic to `Linking Pluto `
[00:15] <Yaijinden> Sobe
[00:16] <Yaijinden> Under the lid of every Sobe bottle, you will find a cryptic bit of "wisdom." Setsuna is terribly fond of being cryptic, especially when she can do it at someone else's expense.
[00:19] <Yaijinden> six-sided dice
[00:20] <Yaijinden> Six-sided dice are most often used in games of chance. Setsuna made a majority of the Outers' fortune in insider trading- which, if it wasn't for her powers, might as well be games of chance.
[00:20] <Yaijinden> Unreal Tournament
[00:21] <Yaijinden> In the Assault mode of Unreal Tournament, both sides' time is measured against one another. If Setsuna played Assault matches, she would schedule the other players' clocks to run faster and her team's to run slower.
[00:21] <Yaijinden> Young Frankenstein
[00:23] <Yaijinden> Frankenstein the Third delves into forbidden sciences, and does it in a way that produces comedy and life from death. When Setsuna plies her forbidden science, Serenity II uses her Ginzuishou and turns life into death and then back into life.
[00:23] <Yaijinden> Vampire: the Masquerade
[00:24] <Yaijinden> One of the disciplines (ie. Mystical Spooky Powers) of an offshoot Vampire clan is the ability to control time, including stopping time with relevance to themselves. Setsuna, as Sailor Pluto, can do the same.
[00:25] <Yaijinden> yoga
[00:26] <Yaijinden> Yoga is an old discipline used to produce physical well-being by stretches, breathing exercises, and meditation. Setsuna saw the whole thing develop and called it a silly thing, and is thus privately ashamed to try it out herself.
[00:26] <Yaijinden> Tantra
[00:28] <Yaijinden> Tantra is a discipline used as part of meditation and practiced mostly in sexual things. Setsuna has poured over the books herself and has been involuntarily exposed to the basics of the idea through all the sex that goes on in Ten'Aino House.
[00:28] <Yaijinden> deodorant
[00:29] <Yaijinden> Setsuna can only wish she had deodorant. You can get pretty stinky when you stand at attention for ten thousand years.
[00:29] <Yaijinden> Starship Troopers
[00:31] <Yaijinden> Starship Troopers is a sci-fi book written by Robert A. Heinlein. Heinlein also wrote Time Enough for Love, a story about a man who's technically immortal and has travelled through time enough times to become his own grandfather. Setsuna, in seeing that she became a true Plutonian and secretly lusting after her pseudo-clone-brother Mamoru, is just as guilty.
[00:31] <Yaijinden> Xenogears
[00:32] <Yaijinden> The enemies masterminding the Solaris program have been hatching their scheme for ten thousand years. Setsuna has been hatching her plan to get HER MAN MAMORU for ten thousand years!
[00:41] <Yaijinden> Sailor Moon Intarweb RPGs
[00:42] <Yaijinden> While Sailor Pluto's domain is time, the mythological Pluto was the master of the Dead Lands. Many RPGs have thrown hissy fits about switching the power schemes of Pluto and Saturn in their own personal continuities.
[00:42] <Yaijinden> coupon books
[00:43] <Yaijinden> Coupon books ususally expire after a month or three. If Setsuna ever wanted to use one of these coupons, she would always be able to use it because she would just go through the Time Gate and whip it out for them.
[00:45] <Yaijinden> shugenja
[00:48] <Yaijinden> Shugenja are, according to most Western interpretations, a sort of priest(ess) who speaks, cajoles, and makes demands of the elemental spirits of the world. In this, they are similar to miko, whose general role in society is to solicit the attention of good kami and ward off the more indifferent and/or malignant ones. Rei is a miko who has prophetic power- and what is prophesy but looking through the veil of time? Something Setsuna is capable of doing with ease.
[00:53] <Yaijinden> bushido
[00:56] <Yaijinden> Japanese religious philosophy generally tended towards a bit of reincarnation and a bit of ancestor worship. Bushido, when viewed through this lens, states that dying for your cause (superiors) is a virtue. The Sailor Senshi, as typical Japanese types, they all die at the drop of the hat when the big bad villain comes around to save Usagi.
[00:58] <Yaijinden> Furthermore, a senshi is a warrior and bushido is the way of the warrior and Setsuna is certainly a Senshi.
[00:59] <Yaijinden> Aaaaand that's it for me.
[12:24] <@S.X. Aino> Thanks, Yai!
