It's been decades since we've even spoken of the Matrix films. The first was revolutionary, the second decent enough and the third...
SpeedRcr_X
You mean "the turd"
FireFly_9
...the less said about it, the better.
FireFly_9
But, years later, here we are again, with an older and wiser post John Wick Keanu Reaves...

It's time to see if going back to the MAtrix one more time is worth the price of admission.
SpeedRcr_X
I hope there's no rave orgy scene this time... I don't need that mental scarring

Ugh, Bloody incels ruined that for me.
Rule34Rocks
They made up a whole mess of faux-philosophical bulls[BLEEP]t to justify and pull others into their miserable view of the world.
FireFly_9
I hate it when high concepts are perverted like that.
FireFly_9
...This is already getting mind-bendingly meta...

And that's the movie. So here's my review:
FireFly_9
Plot: Well, this was well=executed technically. The story was a simple "man saves the woman he loves" narrative, an in that sense it succeeded. As a work of Philosophy as one might have expected from a Matrix film it falls fairly flat, just making the simplistic statement that the masses crave control and order as opposed to free thinking, without really making it a core struggle of the film. Yes, Neo and Trinity have to make "choices", but they are never really tested in the way that would be necessary to get a good exploration of why so many people willingly turn off their critical thinking faculties and submit to the whims of others. 1 out of 2 Dragonnballs.
FireFly_9
Visuals: It's a Matrix film. That's all that needs to be said. 2 out of 2 Dragonballs.
FireFly_9
Audio: A serviceable riff on Matrix themes but nothing remarkable. Even the Rage Against the Machine cover at the end felt obligatory and anemic. One out of two Dragonballs/
FireFly_9
Overall feeling: It was entertaining but unfulfilling. The tropes, even in the action scenes were hoary and not really innovative. One half Dragonball out of one.
FireFly_9
Overall my rating of this film is: Largely competent but hardly unmissable. Four and one-half out of Seven dragonballs.
SpeedRcr_X
At least there was no orgy scene.
FireFly_9
Thank god for that.
FireFly_9
I think, given this film, they should probably just let the Matrix series end here.
September 12, 2001: Mika was sadly lingering outside a dance hall after the university festival, when Sailor Aluminum Siren attacked using Ookatubu, determined to put the Earth into Deep Freeze. As the Senshi break and attack, Sailor Pluto mysteriously appeared, mocking the girls' weakness in battle. Mamoru got mortified as his steel-tipped rose was crushed. When all hope seemed lost, the Senshi got a break through a sudden powerup. Sailor Moon used the Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss attack to win.
"Well that's just dandy-- She shows up, assigns us a stupid quest, gives us little or nothing to go on, and vanishes. She's always doing this s[BLEEP]t to us." -- Sailor Uranus on Sailor Pluto
